The gnome without a home, the 2 foot assassin, The Great Zagoo, whatever you want to call him, he is awesome! I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly the first time I saw Zagoo in action was in a classic dungeon. He claims I was a pally tank, but in reality I was a very confused paladin that happened to know how to mash consecrate. Yes I did some tanking but I was spec’d Ret I think wth a 2hander! But my threat was nice (poor healer) and if you know anything about Zagoo, you’ll know you need lots of threat if you are tanking for him. Well enough from me, let’s hear it from the master of disaster himself.

how long have you been playing wow?

I’ve been playing WoW since vanilla when UBRS was still where the cool kids hung out.

why did you decide to roll a mage?

My first character was actually a warlock which I played up until level 25 or so. I really enjoyed playing the lock because it had pets and so many different playstyle options, but when I asked a level 60 friend who was raiding at the time what magic damage dealing class was most desired in raids, he said mage so I re-rolled.

what is your earliest WoW moment that you can remember?

I remember getting pwned by Hogger at level 8 or something and getting pissed off and trying to get revenge only to die again and again and again in humiliating ways. I think I was a born raider.

what was your first contact with CoS and what were you doing?

My first contact with CoS was meeting MK in a Scholomance PuG. I don’t remember much about it other than that MK was the first pally tank I had grouped with and it was a lot of fun because it was easier to pull multiple mobs at once. We grouped up again a few times after that and at some point MK invited me to join the Zul’Gurub raid that he was running, which was itself still mostly a PuG at that point I think.

why did you join CoS and why have you stayed over the years?

When I created my character on Elune it was because some real life friends were already raiding on the server in the guild SoK. I also knew a few other people in SoK from playing EQ with them several years earlier, and expected to join their guild sooner or later. But MK kept bugging me to join CoS, and I decided I liked the people in the guild as well as the idea of building a guild up from its foundations.

what boss kill is your proudest accomplishment? what set it above the rest?

It might be a tie between Ragnaros and Lady Vashj. At the time, defeating Ragnaros was quite an accomplishment and not something the vast majority of players could hope to accomplish. The Lady Vashj kill on the other hand was also quite an accomplishment and bit of a watershed moment for CoS since it was a brutal fight that we worked on for weeks and we did it all on our own without any guild alliance.

can you give a brief description on what it’s like to be a gnome?

It’s not bad. The people in Canada are very accepting.

lastly, how do you do it? is it a secret mojo? is it just gnome powa!?

Being a gnome definitely helps. But really I’ve just been playing a mage a long long time, and I think the expansion has also been pretty good for mages (I hated Ulduar though ugh).

do you have any tips for other players trying to maximize their dps?

In the end I don’t think there’s any generic trick for dps. I think it’s mostly about knowing the mechanics of your class and the fight and doing all sorts of little things which may not make huge differences by themselves but add up over the course of an encounter. If that fails, just cheat.

All joking aside, Zagoo has been a monumental part of the guild’s success over the last 5 years. He’s an exceptional player who’s ability to play his character is surpassed perhaps only by his wisdom. His opinions on guild issues usually make me look smart when I repeat them. Thanks for your years of dedication to the guild Zagoo!

Chambers of Shaolin vs Heroic Saurfang

Halion is a Twilight Dragon and will have the same basic abilities we see from the stereotypical “Dragon” bosses: cleave, tail lash and frontal cone spell attack. It’s a 3 phase fight that is going to test raids with a “don’t stand in fire” awareness check. Halion drops iLevel 258 items in the 10 player normal mode and iLevel 271 in the 25 player normal mode. I think Halion will be a nice booster shot for raiders that have been banging away at ICC since December. Happy hunting!

Battle.net Real ID is Blizzard’s new chat system that allows players to talk cross-realm and cross-game to each other. You will be able to send chat messages (whispers) to friends that you have accepted as well as update your status with a Twitter like feature. AVR

Next we have the end of AVR in it’s current form. I say in it’s current form because there are smart people out there continually thinking of new ways to add modifications to your UI. There is already a mod giving similar radius life features called “HudMap” that you can find on Curse. For some the changes Blizzard has made to disallow drawing in the world will be a bummer, for some it will be met with great cheer.

First night, 3 hard modes completed and a look at a 4th. Lord Marrowgar, Gunship, and Rotface were all completed. Unfortunately I didn’t get any video of the Marrowgar kill since I was expecting it to take more attempts then it did, so I had not begun recording yet. However I should be able to get our Rotface kill up. It wasn’t the cleanest kill but first kills rarely are!

Phases 1,1.5, 2 and 2.5 went very smoothly. This was the attempt where we stated we weren’t going to call out Defile and Valk timers, surprisingly it was exactly what we needed! After entering phase 3, several players received warm early-congratz hugs from the Vile Spirits which resulted in a slow grind of LK’s health from 30 to 10%. However, once everyone found their groove they just rinsed and repeated until he was defeated! Great job and now on to Hard Modes!!
